Terms and Conditions

By requesting lessons, you agree to the following terms and conditions. These terms are provided so that there is no misunderstanding between 'www.leesenglish.com' (the teacher) and 'you' (the student). These terms and conditions may be updated at any time.

1) DELIVERY OF LESSONS

1a) The teacher will provide the student with English lessons at the dates and times that have been accepted and scheduled unless there is a disruption (see section 3 - Cancellations and refunds). Lessons will be delivered using an online VoIP or IRC service such as Skype or other similar service.

1b) Supplementary material may be provided in various electronic formats such as, audio and video and word processed documents.

2) PURCHASING LESSONS

2a) After acceptance of a lesson request, an invoice will be sent by the teacher to the student.

2b) Lessons will be paid for in advance by using the services of www.paypal.com or www.moneybookers.com.

2c) The cost of the lessons include transaction/processing fees where applicable. Third-party processing fees are not refundable.

Packages

2d) Packages may not be shared between students, which means one package for one student. If two students want to share a 10-hour package, two 5-hour packages must be purchased.

2e) Additional packages may not be purchased until the last lesson in a package has been taken.

2f) Lesson hours can be purchased as packages of 5 or 10 hours to give the student more flexibility and lower price. When 10 hours are purchased one free hour is offered free and to be taken after the purchased hours have been used.

2g) Lesson hours purchased in blocks of 5 or 10 can be taken in ½ hour blocks, 1-hour blocks, 1½ hour blocks or 2-hour blocks (separated by a 10-minute break at the end of the first hour).

2h) Package expiry

2h.1) Packages will expire 120 days (approximately 17 weeks) from purchase. The reason is that to see a noticeable improvement in language skills, a student needs to have regular lessons.

2h.2) Packages purchased prior to 13th February 2013 will expire on June 13th 2013.

3) Face-to-Face lessons

3a) Face-to-face lessons are conducted in a physical location.

3b) Payment must be made before the day of the lesson. This is to protect the teacher from time wasters and non-existent students/false bookings

3c) Where required, transport costs are charged at £4 per lesson, which covers the cost of a return journey to the student’s location.

3d) Refunds cannot be requested after the lesson ends.

3e) Cancellation is as noted in section 4.

4) CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS

4a) Lessons that are booked in advance may be cancelled up to 24 hours before the scheduled start of the lesson without penalty. The lesson can be rescheduled for another date and time. If cancellation of the lesson is within 24 hours of the scheduled lesson or the student is not present for the lesson, full payment for the lesson will be due to the teacher and no refund offered.

4b) If the lesson is cancelled due to the teacher not being present for the lesson, the student may reschedule the lesson or ask for a refund not including third-party transaction fees or transport costs where applicable.

4c) Due to the bespoke nature of the services provided, refunds cannot be given unless the student is unhappy with the service provided. Any disappointment with the service and desire for a refund MUST be made clear to the teacher BEFORE the lesson ends. Refunds will not be given after the end of the lesson.

4d) Refunds will not be offered for unused hours on purchased packages.

5) LATENESS AND ABSENCE

Lateness
5a) If a student is late for a lesson, the lesson will end at the arranged time.

The teacher will wait 15 minutes for the student to attend the class. If the student is not in the class 15 minutes after the start time, the lesson will be closed but will be charged or removed from a package.

5b) In the case of packages, if a student booked a 1-hour lesson and is late, the total of 1 hour will be deducted from the remaining hours in the package, excluding any free of charge time.

Absence
5c) If a student is absent for a lesson and has not notified the teacher according to section 4 above, the entire duration of the scheduled lesson will need to be paid for. If part of a package, the entire duration of the scheduled time will be deducted from the package balance.

6) LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY

6a) The teacher will only be liable for payment to the student in the situations addressed in section 3.

6b) THE TEACHER IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOSSES OR DAMAGES THAT MAY OCCUR THROUGH USE OF THIS WEB SITE, THIRD-PARTY PAYMENT PROCESSING SERVICES, THIRD-PARTY SOFTWARE, PORTALS, DIRECTORIES AND SUCH LIKE, OR ELECTRONIC MEDIA. INTERNET CONNECTIONS ARE NOT GUARANTEED TO BE WITHOUT DISRUPTION AS CONNECTION SPEEDS VARY DRAMATICALLY AT UNPREDICTABLE TIMES. THEREFORE, THE TEACHER CANNOT BE MADE LIABLE FOR ANY LOSS IN THE QUALITY OF SERVICE DUE TO EXTERNAL NETWORKS. THE TEACHER DOES NOT USE WI-FI DUE TO CONNECTIVITY ISSUES WITH IT AND THE TEACHER'S INTERNET SERVICE IS PROVIDED THROUGH A FIBRE OPTIC, 20MB SERVICE.
